Equatic’s seawater electrolysis couples carbon dioxide removal (CDR) from the atmosphere with the generation of green hydrogen at the lowest costs.

Equatic spun out from the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering’s Institute for Carbon Management to deploy the first technology that combines carbon dioxide (CO2) removal and carbon-negative hydrogen generation. Addressing both legacy and future emissions in a single process, the multi-product climate solution enables decarbonization at the scale, speed and cost necessary to mitigate climate change. Equatic will remove 62,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide and will deliver 2,100 metric tons of carbon-negative hydrogen to Boeing.

Equatic’s seawater electrolysis couples carbon dioxide removal (CDR) from the atmosphere with the generation of green hydrogen at the lowest costs.

Equatic will deliver and install an electrolyzer unit to be operated at Deep Sky’s pilot facility in Quebec in 2024. The unit will have the capacity to remove 365 tons of carbon dioxide per year and will demonstrate the potential for Equatic’s technology ahead of larger-scale deployments (100,000+ tons per year).
